First Regional Symposium on Sustainable Small-Scale Fishing in the Mediterranean and the Black Sea

Mr Abdellah Srour, the Executive Secretary of General Fisheries Commission in the Mediterranean (GFCM), has officially announced that the first “Regional Symposium on Sustainable Small-Scale Fisheries in the Mediterranean and the Black Sea” will be held  at the Hilton hotel in St. Julian’s, Malta, from 27 to 30 November 2013, hosted by the Maltese Government. Its organization is being jointly promoted by the GFCM in partnership with CIHEAM, FAO Fisheries and Aquaculture Department, FAO Regional Projects, MedPAN and WWF. Several other entities have expressed interest in the symposium, including stakeholders, and will be given the chance to properly interact during the discussions.

The brochure of the Symposium can be downloaded in English and French. An Arabic version will be soon made available.

Further information is also available on the dedicated website: www.ssfsymposium.org, which will be regularly updated with detailed information of meeting venue, schedules and relevant documentation. Registration can be done online by clicking on the “Registration” tab on top of the homepage.
